Our mission

Blueberry Life was founded by Dr. Karan Mehta after dedicating his doctorate studies to understanding and developing risk prediction models for individuals with Type-2 diabetes. Alongside a team of insurance and AI experts, this led to formulating a unique underwriting model that offers fairer cover for those living with not only Type-2, but other chronic conditions that people manage with their lifestyle. The name Blueberry isn’t a coincidence - blueberries are linked to improving health concerns such as blood pressure, blood sugar and gastrointestinal issues. We were formerly called Bluezone, a term coined by Dan Buettner, as a nod to endorsing the lifestyles carried out in the Blue Zone areas that produce some of the longest and healthiest living humans in the world.

More than just insurance

Although insurance is our product, our mission goes beyond that. Our mission is to create a user base that experiences an extended healthspan. Healthspan is a term to describe not just a longer life, but a healthier one for its duration. The way we aim to do this is provide a suite of digital tools dedicated to helping our customers live healthier & longer - defying the odds of their condition. This starts with our digital-first term life insurance. Most specialist life insurance requires hospital documents and follow-up calls. We’ve specifically made ours digital-first to create an easy experience for our customers - something we’ll take forward throughout all of our products.
